...Our Story
Muungano Youth Development Skills is a community-based organization established on 9th January 2018 in Kyempango A4 Village, Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement, Kamwenge District.
Its inception was driven by the challenges experienced within the refugee settlement and the pressing need to address issues such as gender-based violence (GBV), early pregnancies, early marriages, and poverty. Recognizing the impact of idleness on the community, especially among youth and women, the organization sought to create a transformative platform to empower individuals and build a self-reliant, harmonious society.

The organization initially focused on supporting orphans by providing food and scholastic materials, enabling them to pursue education. This compassionate effort was funded through internal contributions. Over time, the scope expanded to include empowering young women and single mothers through skill development programs designed to address their immediate needs.
These programs required minimal academic knowledge and aimed to provide practical skills for economic independence and stability.
